What A WW2 Booklet Taught Me About Living in Lockdown

hi! here are some fragments (mostly unedited, I only cut out irrelevant parts) of a "How To Keep Well In Wartime" booklet from 1943 (I was using a reprint from the Imperial War Museum). in the video I use the phrase "self-quarantine" because I've seen people use that phrase to describe staying at home, but after some research I found that it's mostly used when describing people that could've been exposed to the virus or are already sick, so "lockdown" is a more appropriate phrase. it was too late to change it in the video as the actor has already recorded the text. also be aware that the outdoor scenes were recorded in my garden! stay home! and finally, please remember that these tips, even though they could be helpful, are all almost 80 years old. please refer to WHO's guidelines for actual up-to-date tips on how to live and behave: www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public

posting it here too cause none of you reads the description anyway: hi! here are some fragments (mostly unedited, I only cut out irrelevant parts) of a "How To Keep Well In Wartime" booklet from 1943 (I was using a reprint from the Imperial War Museum). in the video I use the phrase "self-quarantine" because I've seen people use that phrase to describe staying home, but after some research I found that it's mostly used when describing people that could've been exposed to the virus or are already sick, so "lockdown" is a more appropriate phrase. it was too late to change it in the video as the actor has already recorded the text. also be aware that the outdoor scenes were recorded in my garden! stay home! and finally, please remember that these tips, even though they could be helpful, are all almost 80 years old. please refer to WHO's guidelines for actual up-to-date tips on how to live and behave: www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public

Why does the voice actor remind me of Kevin Brighting, particularly when he’s doing a “silly” voice (AKA not his usual, proper voice he uses for informational and “official” sounding work)

Yes it's good advice... but I love how people in the comments are amused and don't see the irony of it. This pandemic IS a war. Just not the type with bombs and soldiers across seas. It's an economic and social war. And it's all far from over.

A lot of people commenting about the water is meant to be drunk line. There is a real reason they had to give this advice to people. My great grandfather lived during this time in rural Hungary, and they only drank a weak wine that they made from their own grapes.

I failed in all of them but ''not passing my cold'' (yes, just a simple cold caused by air-conditioning and cold drinks) to my parents. My time was resumed into studying for my finals, sleeping but going to bed like at 7 of the morning and eating poorly. And now I'm just stuck in this unregular routine, with a cold and barely seeing the daylight anymore. That WWII booklet made me question my life choices.

You can't really compare the PLANdemic to a world war. This is 100% politician inflicted BS, also it's funny that even in the world war 2 commentary they tell you to only quarantine the SICK, so why the FUCK are the politicians quarantining EVERYONE? Think about it folks, this is more about control than saving anyone's life. When's the last time you saw a politician who gave a damn about anyone's life?
